Helen Rhodes

Helen Rhodes

Helen Rhodes gained a First Class Honours Degree in textile design from Loughborough College of Art and upon graduation started working as a full time painter.
It was not long before her intriguing originals caught the eye of publishers and galleries alike.

It is true to say that Helen Rhodes popularity stems from a distinctive combination of simple, yet familiar images, a dash of gentle humour and wonderful rich textured colours.

Some of the inspiration form Helen'swork comes from a fascination with the history of textile design especially that of the Elizabethan era. The torn edges of each painting hints at it being part of a much larger piece giving the viewer an added sense of mystery.

Helen Rhodes has received several prestigious commissions including most notably from Queens Bone China from whom she was asked to produce six mug designs. In1994 and 1995 she won the Imperial Cancer Research Christmas Card competition.

This outstanding young artist , whose talent gained her Gift of the Year 98, is never short of dazzling new ideas. It is of no surprise that award winning artist attracts an ever growing number of collectors.
