Regional Antique Prints Hampshire & Winchester

These prints date from about 1900 to 1920 before the car changed our towns and villages for ever. the introduction of full colour printing around 1900 enabled for the first time the reproduction of the subtle tints and tones of original paintings.
Two Main artist

Wilfrid Ball lived most of his life in London but he travelled widely throughout Europe and developed a close relationship with the counties of Sussex and Hampshire. His book 'Sussex - Painted by Wilfrid Ball' published in 1906 and 'Hampshire - Painted by Wilfrid Ball' published in 1909 brought his paintings to a much wider audience and significantly enhanced his popularity. Many of his paintings were used, and still are, on postcards and greetings cards.

Ernest William Haslehust (12 Nov 1866 - 3 July 1949). He was a prolific painter of British landscapes in watercolour and is perhaps best remembered for illustrating 36 volumes of the well-known "Beautiful England" series of travel books published by Blackie
