Art on Exmoor since 1893
NOW ALL HALF MARKED PRICE
Although born in London, Cherry spent much of her childhood travelling from one country to another, usually uprooted every two or three years as her father was serving in the RAF. After completing her education in Abingdon, she moved with her parents to Germany until the mid 60s, when she returned to London.
Although interested in art, her income was boosted by becoming Londons youngest croupier. In 1970 she started her professional painting career, living in Lebanon, where she continued to paint and study art.
She also lived in New York for a time then moved to the Mediterranean where she continued painting, supplementing her income with bar and restaurant work.
Married in 1977, but divorced two years later, she became very ill in 1980 so returned to England. When she had recovered she worked as a photographic model, while still continuing with her hobby of painting.
For many years now Cherry has devoted her spare time to caring for unwanted animals, and established a donkey sanctuary. Her first love is art, and because of the time spent abroad she has managed to capture the wonderful feeling of escapism, so evident in her pictures.
In Cherrys own words Im really a hippy at heart you know.
