Lynmouth Annual Raft Race
Dozens of rafts, some built for speed, some for fancy dress and many completely un-seaworthy take to the seas for a frantic battle to the buoy and back… not all make it…
Flour bombs and spectator interaction makes for guaranteed hilarity and laughter for this longstanding annual traditional event!
A couple of hours of light heart family fun. The rafts first gather at Lynmouth coach park for a parade which starts at about 4.30. Commentary is by Tarka Radio as the parade goes towards the harbour.
The rafts are then launched in the harbour and paddle out into the Lyn River and upstream to the footbridge. Once the rafts have assembled under the footbridge the race can start down the River Lyn into the Bristol Channel under the footbridge while being flour bombed.
